We are Women-Hear Us Roar!

When Rep. Darrell Issa, the House Oversight Committee Chairman, set up a panel for a Congressional hearing on birth control, there were NO WOMEN included. WHAT? How fair is that? It's not.

Add insult to injury Rep. Issa made this comment as he turned away that only female that would have been heard on the panel:

“As the hearing is not about reproductive rights and contraception but instead about the Administration’s actions as they relate to freedom of religion and conscience, he believes that Ms. Fluke is not an appropriate witness.”

What an outrage. Something that has to do with women, but she was not an appropriate witness.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. No truer words were ever spoken. We (women) are NOT in the Dark Ages. We are liberated. We are equal. We are NOT second-class citizens

Who Am I?

Hi, my name is Michelle.

I am a woman of faith. But wait. I'm a liberal. How can I be a woman of faith AND a liberal? Well, it's easy. I have never liked unfairness. With anyone. Ever since I remember, as a young child, I have fought for the rights of women and those who couldn't fight for themselves. I didn't realize it at the time. Just thought I was doing it for myself. But, the older I get, that thread woven through my life is getting more and more defined. And it all began with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I guess you could say I am finding myself through Him.

Today's political arena is a hotbed of controversy in the area of women's rights. Let me get one thing straight. I am NOT into men bashing. But, I will have no problem whatsoever expressing my views to anyone. I don't care if it's a woman or a man. But, I HATE injustice. I do not like to see people being taken advantage of or treated in a "less than" fashion. You might say I am an advocate. For those that are unable to fight for their own rights. I have a big mouth, a big heart and a big faith.

I like underdogs. I stand up and make a lot of noise for the underdog. But, for the Grace of God go I. That's what those people should be saying, you know the ones I'm talking about. The ones that are actively trying to take programs away that are actually doing good and helping people. What kind of hearts do these people have to do such inhumane things? Black heart comes to my mind. But, hey, that's another post for another day.

I don't wear a cape. I am not "special". I don't consider myself any better than anyone else. But, I will not let anyone treat me or others that I care about in a "less than" manner. They must be called out for this behavior. And I am here to do it. Come along with me. We need to work together to make a better tomorrow. It's about building each other up, not tearing each other down.

I am Michelle and I am a liberal woman. I support President Obama. You don't like that or disagree? Okay. Go read something else. It's my right to speak and help those that can't fight for themselves. The Prez has done so much for our country. I am sorry if you are too blind to see it.

I thank the Lord Almighty for bringing me full circle in my political stance. If I do anything right, it's by His Grace. And strength.

This is who I am. I am so grateful I can see that now. Through the Eyes of a Liberal Woman.
